If you love the pounding, rhythmic beat of percussion then your time to rejoice has come.
The Harker Heights High School Red Brigade Band is hosting the first-ever “Drums in the Heartland” percussion contest at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at Joseph L. Searles Stadium in Killeen.
A total of 11 high school ensembles are scheduled to participate in what the Harker Heights band and band boosters hope is the first of an annual event.
“We are thrilled to launch this new tradition,” said Eric Skinner, Director of Bands at Harker Heights High School.
“Drums in The Heartland gives our students and those from visiting programs a platform to perform, compete, and grow through the power of music and teamwork.”
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and will be available at the gate and online.
