The Grizzlies opened the game with an outstanding kickoff from Cain Navas, followed by excellent coverage from our special teams unit that put us in favorable field position. Unfortunately, Nolan capitalized on the very next play, and two costly turnovers led to scores on consecutive possessions. Despite the early adversity, our defense refused to quit, forcing a crucial fumble in the red zone with just 40 seconds remaining in the first half.
The second half showed the fight and determination we expect from Grizzly football! Our defense came out with renewed energy, highlighted by an electrifying pick 6 from Cameron Stroy that gave our team a much needed spark. Offensively, Larry Hirt and Cameron Stroy demonstrated impressive accuracy in the passing game, helping us move the football and create opportunities. Although our passing attack showed promise, our inability to establish a consistent running game prevented us from turning those drives into additional points. The game finished with a score of 6-25 in favor of Nolan.
This was not our best performance, and we will not make excuses for the mistakes that cost us opportunities. However, championship programs are not built by avoiding adversity. They are built by learning from it, taking accountability, and responding with greater focus and determination.
With one regular-season game remaining against Patterson Middle School next week, our mission is clear. We must sharpen our fundamentals, protect the football, execute our assignments, and compete with relentless effort from the opening kickoff to the final whistle.
We have another opportunity to show how far this team has come. We will have some key players return this week, which is a much needed positive. We will prepare with purpose, practice with intensity, and take the field ready to compete for one another.
